Rome, September 28 (LaPresse) – In the afternoon, an important meeting took place at the Carabinieri Roma-San Pietro station between Defense Minister Guido Crosetto and Maria Elena Delia, spokesperson for the Global Sumud Flotilla, along with other movement representatives Simona Moscarelli and Giorgina Levi. "I reiterated to them," Crosetto explained after the meeting, "all my concerns, but also the importance of dialogue and the need to avoid actions that could jeopardize any lives, especially those of Italian activists. The declared goal of the Flotilla is to help the people of Gaza, but it is crucial that this commitment does not result in actions that will not lead to any concrete outcomes. On the contrary, they could have dramatic effects, with high and irrational risks." Crosetto emphasized that "the priority for me and the Government remains security and the use of effective and safe solutions to truly help the population of Gaza through humanitarian and diplomatic channels, all of which are already operational. Italian institutions, starting with the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and all key state officials, are making every diplomatic and operational effort to ensure that a sense of responsibility prevails. However, should the Sumud Flotilla decide to take actions to break a naval blockade, it would expose itself to extremely high and unmanageable risks, given that we are talking about civilian boats attempting to 'break' a military blockade. I am certain that better and more substantial results for the Palestinian people can be achieved through other means, methods, and systems, as I reiterated to them, thanking them for the sincere and honest exchange."
