Gaza, Schlein: ‘There is no conditional recognition of Palestine’

Rome, 2 October (LaPresse) – "Now that there is a glimmer of hope for peace, we are closely following the negotiations currently underway on the US diplomatic initiative. Beyond our assessment of the individual aspects of the plan, we hope that an agreement will be reached. But clarity is needed on the recognition of the State of Palestine. We hope that this agreement will be reached as soon as possible, but for us, the path to peace is inseparable from the full recognition of the State of Palestine. How can you ask us to vote on a resolution that miserably ignores this point or, with a poor parliamentary tactic, aims to divide it? There is no such thing as conditional recognition." This was stated by PD secretary Elly Schlein in her voting statement in the Chamber of Deputies on the communications of Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
