Milan, 12 October (LaPresse) – "I find it hard to believe that a minister of the Republic, after describing educational trips to Auschwitz as “outings”, could have said that they were encouraged to promote anti-fascism. What would be the fault? During the Second World War, throughout Europe occupied by the Axis powers, the Nazis, with the zealous collaboration of local fascists – including those of the Italian Social Republic – created a colossal industry of death to wipe Jews, Roma and Sinti and other minorities off the face of the earth. The education of our children and grandchildren must begin with knowledge of history. The memory of historical truth only hurts those who have skeletons in their closets'. Thus Liliana Segre, commenting on today's words by the Minister for the Family, Eugenia Roccella.
