Rome, 22 October (LaPresse) – ‘I reiterate my solidarity with my colleague Ranucci.’ Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said this in the Senate chamber in response to communications ahead of the European Council meeting on 23 and 24 October. ‘On the issue of press freedom,’ she added, ‘there is a lack of balance and objectivity on the part of some. I don't remember any reactions to Sallusti and Cerno. And I don't want to go back to Beppe Grillo when he evoked the people's courts. I wonder if it is possible to take lessons on press freedom from the M5S, which today takes to the streets to defend it and yesterday drew up proscription lists for journalists they didn't like.’ ‘In the press freedom ranking compiled by Reporters Without Borders,’ he concluded, ‘we have climbed nine places with this government.’
