Rome, Oct. 28 (LaPresse) – “Not only will we vote no on this reform, but we will run a campaign to make citizens understand how dangerous the principle being pursued is. This is the scheme of Licio Gelli and of those who wanted to put prosecutors under control with the P2.” This was stated by M5S President Giuseppe Conte, interviewed at the Justice Fair after being confirmed as the leader of the Movement. “If prosecutors are kept at a distance, alone they count for nothing. With this reform, we are ensuring that prosecutors do not bother the government in office,” Conte added, later speaking about the Movement, explaining: “We have a peculiarity: anyone could run for the presidency. That it was only me is a kind of recognition that honors me. More than half of eligible voters participated, and 89% voted in favor – I cannot complain. Ours is a community with a very strong democratic debate. Last year, the base was involved in a major direct democracy event called Nova. It would never occur to anyone here to put a brother or sister at the head of the party or appoint a brother-in-law as minister. We are very democratic.”
