Milan, 18 Nov. (LaPresse) – ‘The match between Virtus Bologna and Maccabi Haifa will go ahead as planned; there is no reason not to play it.’ This was stated by the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, on the sidelines of the presentation of the 2026 Fire Brigade calendar at the Maxxi in Rome, in response to statements by the mayor of Bologna, Matteo Lepore, who had reiterated his ‘strong concern’ about the match scheduled at the PalaDozza for 21 November. Regarding the possibility of moving the match “to another date and another venue”, as requested by the mayor, Piantedosi added that Lepore “is the mayor, he could even ban the match. A mayor is not without powers. As far as we are concerned, the conditions are in place for the match to be played”.
