Rome, Nov. 25 (LaPresse) – “Today a very important bill arrived at my commission on sexual violence that puts consent at the center. It is a law on which the commission will measure itself. It would have been wonderful to approve it today, but I noticed that within the commission some amendments were suggested. I must say that there are some small gaps. Of course, it would have been nice to say ‘November 25, hooray!’. But for us as legislators, being responsible matters. This law will be made, a little better, making small changes to a paragraph that was discussed today. In my opinion, the legislator abandons vague paragraphs, where a life is at stake in one paragraph. Let’s make this law better and do it together. The commitment is to pass it quickly, but improve it a bit. I prefer to do it on the 13th or the 31st rather than the 25th with a gap.” This was stated by the Chair of the Justice Commission Giulia Bongiorno, member of the League, in the Senate chamber. On the sidelines of the Commission's work, Bongiorno declared: “We want to move forward with this bill, so anyone who wants to send the message ‘they want to sink it’ or ‘they want to shelve it’, does not take into account the fact that I chair the Commission and I will not sink it and will not forget the existence of this bill.”
