Rome, Dec. 10 (LaPresse) – “We are witnessing the construction of a new global geopolitical order. Antagonistic blocs are confronting each other: Russia, China, and the United States. In this scenario, Europe continues to be perceived as an unwelcome guest, to be pushed out the door. This is a huge problem, because this new order is being built by delegitimizing international law, with Trump thinking he can dictate the rules alone.”
This is what Angelo Bonelli, MP for AVS and co-spokesperson of Europa Verde, said while speaking on Agorà on Rai3.
“Today, we are witnessing evident attempts to redefine powers and resources: from Putin’s Russia, which, with the melting glaciers, aims at new routes and the exploitation of Arctic resources, to the centrality of Taiwan, the leading exporter of semiconductors to the United States. For this reason, a truly united and authoritative Europe is needed. President Meloni opposes the reform of the European Union that would overcome the veto and the issue of unanimity. It is precisely unanimity that today allows Orban to block any progress toward a stronger and more united Europe. The same applies to rearmament. I hear members of the center-right saying ‘we are against weapons,’ yet they disagree on everything, and the League voted to raise military spending to 5% of GDP, an unsustainable level for our country. This means taking more than 100 billion euros a year away from healthcare and essential services. The center-right lives in contradictions and tells Italians a reality that does not exist, while the country faces a deep economic and social crisis.”
