Rome, Dec. 30 (LaPresse) – “The primary concerns of Italians are the cost of living and waiting lists for healthcare. It’s not the PD saying this, the latest surveys are. And if you think about it, these are the things that make up people’s daily dignity: eating and receiving medical care. Many Italians were unable to return home for the holidays because they could not afford the trip due to the crazy cost of tickets. There are hundreds of thousands of families deciding whether to delay paying rent or utility bills. We are therefore talking about real hardship, about inequalities that have increased in this country. A budget that is unable to address Italians’ primary concerns is a wrong budget, moving in the wrong direction. It is a budget based on austerity, and you are even claiming it as such. It is a budget that foresees zero growth, while the European Commission certifies that we are second to last in Europe in terms of growth prospects for next year. This despite the PNRR and the extraordinary contribution it has made, despite the fact that Giorgia Meloni’s party did not even want it.” This was stated by PD secretary Elly Schlein, speaking in the Chamber during her voting declaration on the budget.
