Rome, Jan. 10 (LaPresse) – “I was struck by a statement the Prime Minister made yesterday, saying that there is a part of the country that, when it protests, is on the wrong side of history. I thought about it for a moment and my reflection was: ‘who is it that tells us which is the right side of history?’ No, because if we look at the history from which much of this government comes, the Constitution and democracy would not exist. What would be the right side of history? What would it be? Because if they are in government today, it is thanks to the defeat of fascism and Nazism and thanks to the Constitution. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be here. And we are not the ones who want to change or abolish the Constitution. We are the ones who have been fighting for years to enforce that Constitution, because it has not yet been fully applied, it is not being applied.” This is what CGIL secretary Maurizio Landini said during the launch of the campaign for a No vote on the referendum on justice reform, held at the Frentani Center in Rome.
