Rome, 1 February (LaPresse) – ‘This is a delicate moment because yesterday's scenes in Turin are not normal, and I expect that those arrested for assaulting the police officer will at least be charged with attempted murder.’ So said Matteo Salvini on the sidelines of the signature collection in Rome for the referendum on justice. ‘I hope there aren't any do-gooder judges who start trying to understand if there is some kind of hardship,’ he added. "It is increasingly urgent to approve this security decree. We aim to protect and give more tools to the police, and then we need judges who realise that these people are dangerous and should be kept in prison. We also hope that the decree will include all the necessary provisions, including the eviction of all squatters (not just those occupying primary residences) and the provision that cuts family reunification. I am counting on there also being a provision that cuts the automatic registration of law enforcement officers in the register of suspects."
