Milan, 2 February (LaPresse) – "The Olympics are starting, the widespread Olympics, and I would like to make it clear to all of you that this is the first time we are holding widespread Olympics, two regions, two autonomous provinces, precisely because we want the whole of Italy to be involved. It is an exceptional event, and I am sure that we will make an excellent impression, despite the protests, because I don't know if these people are Italian or what they want.‘ These were the words of Tourism Minister Daniela Santanché, speaking on the sidelines of the conference ’Italian Attractiveness and Major Events" at the Feltrinelli Foundation in Milan. “We will have Italy at the centre of the world, we will have heads of state and government, we will have all the teams in the world participating in wonderful landscapes, facilities, cities and mountain villages,” continued the minister. 'Why should we be against the Olympics today? But do those who are against it have another nationality? We are all Italians, we all wear the national team jersey. Let's cheer for Italy because this is an extraordinary event, not only in terms of sport but also in terms of promotion, putting Italy at the centre of the world. In a few days' time, billions of people will be tuning in to San Siro. But where is our Italian pride? Where is our pride in belonging? It is Italy, not one part or another, it is Italy that is facing the world," he concluded.
