Rome, 5 February (LaPresse) – "We are waiting to read the texts, but we learn from Giorgia Meloni that after years of saying “no” to the M5S's proposals to target thieves and pickpockets with automatic prosecution without a complaint, now the government has woken up from its long slumber to include in a measure what it has always rejected in Parliament. Good morning. For the rest, we are looking for real measures for safety on the streets of our cities: with their rules, thieves continue to escape because they are warned of arrest and nothing concrete and significant is being done to invest in and increase the number of officers, guards and controls on the streets. This is the security that people are asking for after years of government in which thefts, muggings and robberies have increased. Instead, their goal was to exploit the events in Turin to stifle dissent: fortunately, they had to backtrack on some absurd rules, such as the one on bail for organising a demonstration, which they wanted to slip into the decree thinking that we would all keep quiet and behave. Or like preventive detention based on mere suspicion, criticised even by La Russa. And it doesn't end there'. This was written on social media by the president of the M5S, Giuseppe Conte, after the Council of Ministers gave the green light to the new security package.
