Rome, 10 February (LaPresse) – ‘Today we celebrate Remembrance Day. A day that calls on Italy to remember a painful chapter in our history, which for decades was the victim of an unforgivable conspiracy of silence, oblivion and indifference.’ So said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a post on X on the day dedicated to the memory of the foibe and the Giuliano-Dalmatian exodus, which is celebrated today, 10 February, with a commemoration in the Chamber of Deputies in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. "The nation must not be afraid to face that truth, rejecting any squalid attempt at denial or reductionism. Remembrance is not resentment, but justice,‘ Meloni continued. ’Italy will never again allow this history to be distorted, denied or erased,‘ the prime minister concluded, ’because this is a history that belongs to the whole of Italy. To each and every one of us."
