Rome, Feb. 10 (LaPresse) – "The approval of the two European regulations concerning the list and the concept of a Safe Third Country is a great success for the Italian Government, which has been able with determination and conviction to assert its positions on migration in Europe," said Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi. "The definition of the European list of Safe Third Countries," the minister added, "is in line with the measures already adopted by Italy, where, in addition to candidate countries for EU membership, there are also countries such as Egypt, Tunisia, and Bangladesh. The concept of a ‘Safe Third Country’ introduces clearer criteria that will allow states to assess the inadmissibility of an asylum application if the applicant has transited through a Safe Third Country where they could have obtained effective protection. Finally, the breakthrough requested by Italy on migration has occurred."
