Rome, 28 March (LaPresse) – "This morning, Ilaria Salis, our MEP, reported that she had been woken by two police officers who turned up at her hotel room in Rome to carry out a ‘preventive check’. Although she identified herself immediately, the officers waited for almost an hour before leaving. This is an incident of unprecedented gravity, made even worse by the fact that it occurred just a few hours before this afternoon’s major demonstration.” This was stated by Angelo Bonelli and Nicola Fratoianni of Avs in a press release. ‘It is unacceptable that in Italy – the Red-Green leaders continue – a Member of Parliament should be subjected to preventive checks. Has the Meloni government decided to subject opposition MPs to checks? We have not yet become Orban’s Hungary and we do not intend to become so. On this matter – Bonelli and Fratoianni conclude – we demand a clear explanation from Minister Piantedosi.’
