Iran, Palazzo Chigi: ‘Italy acts in accordance with agreements and the will of Parliament’

Rome, 31 March (LaPresse) – ‘With regard to press reports on the use of military bases, we reiterate that Italy is acting in full compliance with current international agreements and the guidelines set out by the Government to Parliament. The Executive’s position is clear, consistent and already fully endorsed by Parliament, without any changes’. This is stated in a note released by Palazzo Chigi. ‘Every request is examined carefully, on a case-by-case basis, as has always been the case in the past,’ it emphasises, reiterating that ‘the government will therefore continue to operate within the framework of existing treaties, in accordance with the will of the government and Parliament, whilst ensuring international reliability and the full protection of the national interest’.
