My sympathies go out to the officer who was injured, and my gratitude to the Secret Service agents for stopping the attacker without further harm.’ This was posted on X by the Foreign Minister and leader of Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani, following the attempted attack in Washington. “Calming the climate of political debate, everywhere, is a duty for all of us,” he added, “also to prevent incidents of violence such as this and to curb the fanatics who threaten freedoms and democracy.”
