Flotilla, La Russa: ‘A politically motivated and propaganda-driven operation’

Milan, 4 May (LaPresse) – "How many Palestinians did the Flotilla save? How many children survived? How many Israelis had to change their minds about the fact that there are others who want not the end of the war but the disappearance of Israel ‘from the river to the sea’? Zero. So, these are instrumental and propagandistic operations with high media visibility. If you’re lucky enough to be stopped and say you’ve been tortured, that’s the best you can hope for.” These are the words of Ignazio La Russa, President of the Senate, speaking from the stage at the launch of the book “Dalla parte delle divise” by Matteo Piantedosi and Annalisa Chirico, at the Rizzoli bookshop in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, regarding the Global Sumud Flotilla, the fleet of humanitarian ships bound for Gaza that was blocked by the Israeli authorities. ‘If there are then excesses on the part of the Israeli government, the Italian government is right to protest, but this does not make me change my mind about a form of protest such as the Flotilla,’ concluded the President of the Senate.
