Turin, 5 May (LaPresse) – "In recent years we have witnessed paradoxes and misunderstandings, mistakes for which I am the first to express regret. Some films have received undeserved public funding, both automatically and on a selective basis, whilst others, despite deserving it, have not received any. A prime example is the unacceptable failure of the documentary film ‘Tutto il male del mondo’, dedicated to Giulio Regeni, to whom I dedicate my heartfelt thoughts and the promise – already partly fulfilled – to bring order and moral conscience where opacity and incompetence have prevailed. ‘Never again.’ This was stated by the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, during the ceremony to present the nominees for the David di Donatello Awards, currently taking place at the Quirinale in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. ‘The system must be made fairer, ensuring that fear and alarm do not turn into ideological conflicts,’ he added. ‘The Ministry does not wish to influence the decisions of those responsible, either beforehand or afterwards; together with the trade associations, we are working to strengthen impartiality of judgement, the transparency of criteria and accountability for decisions. More quality, less room for the shadow of politicisation.’
