Rome, 6 May (LaPresse) – The opposition parties in the Senate have sent two letters, addressed respectively to Nicola Calandrini, Chair of the Budget Committee, and to Senator Claudio Fazzone, Chair of the Eighth Committee responsible for the matter, in an attempt to unblock the legislative process for the bill to reform the RAI. On 17 September 2025, the select committee of the Environment and Public Works Committee adopted a new text, after which nothing further has happened. This is stated in a note. “A new and more decisive institutional intervention is required to formally engage with the Chair of the Budget Committee; to urge the government to urgently complete the technical review and provide the requested information; to allow the relevant committee to resume and conclude its examination of the bill; and to clarify the reasons for the delay.” The opposition group leaders on the Budget Committee – Daniele Manca (PD), Elena Pirro (M5S), Tino Magni (AVS), Raffaella Paita (IV) and Pietro Patton (AUT) – have sent a letter to Chairman Calandrini urging the Budget Committee to issue its opinion on the new text as soon as possible. At today’s Budget Committee meeting, Senator Beatrice Lorenzin, deputy leader of the PD group, urged Chairman Calandrini to issue the opinion, which is necessary to proceed with the examination of the text. In the absence of a positive response, the PD senator announced that the opposition parties would no longer guarantee the orderly conduct of the Fifth Committee’s proceedings.
