Rome, 18 May (LaPresse) – Salim El Koudri “is the son of Moroccan immigrants, born in Bergamo, an Italian citizen and a university graduate. He has been diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder, which makes it more difficult to understand the circumstances of the case. He has expressed resentment and dissatisfaction with his working and social circumstances. In an email sent to his university, he made remarks against ‘Christian bastards’ and other blasphemous expressions, before later apologising. He may have been driven by hatred stemming from resentment over what he perceived as discrimination. As things stand, he has shown no signs of organised Islamist radicalisation and does not appear to belong to fundamentalist propaganda networks. “From the searches and analysis of mobile phones, at present, no evidence has emerged that fits the classic profile of a terrorist planning violent acts.” So said the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, following last Saturday’s attack in Modena.
