So said M5S leader Giuseppe Conte in an interview with *La Repubblica*. ‘It is Meloni who should explain the reasons for her fake U-turn,’ replied the former prime minister when asked about the government’s changed stance on the flotilla and, above all, the criticism of Israel. "There is no difference between the first flotilla expedition and this one. In both cases, we have the boarding of ships in international waters, the deportation of citizens to Israeli soil – which amounts to kidnapping – and degrading and inhuman treatment.” What has changed, then? “That the government, completely crippled following the ‘no’ vote in the justice referendum, is facing the painful prospect of a decline in support.”
