Publishing, Giuli: ‘Meloni’s comments are spot on; further analysis by the AIE is welcome’

Rome, 14 June (LaPresse) – “I welcome with optimism the AIE’s announcement of a ‘further, careful review’, in light of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s apt observations regarding the anachronistic demand to make a profession of anti-fascist faith in order to attend ‘Più libri più liberi’.” This was stated by the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli. “Our civil rights, our freedom of expression and our popular sovereignty, entrusted to the central role of Parliament, are already more than adequately defended by the 1948 Constitution, which arose from the ruins of the war caused by freedom-suppressing regimes that are now dead, buried and consigned to history. Should this not seem sufficient, the judiciary and law enforcement agencies are the additional, natural guardians of our democratic security. I trust that the AIE’s reasonable words mark the beginning of the end of a glaring misunderstanding susceptible to brutal exploitation. The great Giorgio Albertazzi, just like the communist Palmiro Togliatti, author of the Appeal to the Black-shirted Comrades, or Togliatti the Minister of Justice, advocate of the great post-war amnesty, would today smile benevolently at the idea of knowing us to be more mature than any senseless nostalgia,” adds Giuli.
