Rome, 15 June (LaPresse) – “Ms Takaichi and I discussed Russia’s unacceptable aggression against Ukraine, reaffirming Italy’s and Japan’s commitment to upholding international law in the pursuit of a just and lasting peace; in the face of Russia’s latest brutal attacks on civilians, we cannot look the other way.” So said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in her remarks to the press following the bilateral meeting at Villa Pamphilj with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. “ I believe solidarity is fundamental, particularly when Russian attacks and aggression do not even stop at millennia-old symbols of Christianity or UNESCO World Heritage sites,” Meloni emphasised. “Firm support for Kyiv and efforts towards peace will obviously be central themes at the G7 summit, and we will reaffirm our commitment to restarting the negotiation process to end the conflict.”
