Turin, 16 Jan (LaPresse) – Italian women skiers immediately fast and in tune with Tofane Olimpia in the first of the two time trials ahead of the World Cup downhill in Cortina d'Ampezzo on Saturday 18 January: Federica Brignone is the best in this first training run with a time of 1'36‘47, followed by Sofia Goggia just 5 hundredths behind, with Nadia Delago third at 0’65. Excellent results then in the first act of the Cortina d'Ampezzo stage: behind the three Italians, Norway's Kajsa Vickhoff Lie is fourth at 0‘77 ahead of Laura Gauche (+0’80) and Lara Gut Behrami (0‘90); Elena Curtoni (ninth at 1’17) and Marta Bassino also did well, having overcome the after-effects of the flu that prevented her from taking part in the St. Anton stage, and is tenth at 1"18. As for the other Italians, Roberta Melesi is 22nd at 1‘97 just ahead of Nicol Delago (1’99) while Laura Pirovano (+2‘16) is author of the 27th time; delay of 3’73 then for Vicky Bernardi and 4"01 for Sara Thaler. On Friday, 17 January, the second official race is scheduled on the Tofane Olimpia, starting at 11 am.
