Turin, Jan 29 (LaPresse) – Inter cruised past Monaco with a 3-0 victory at San Siro, led by a sensational Lautaro Martínez, who scored a hat-trick in the final matchday of the Champions League league phase. With this win, the Nerazzurri secured direct qualification to the Round of 16, finishing among the top eight in the group stage. It was an easy night for Inter, who took the lead in the 3rd minute thanks to a Lautaro penalty after Zakaria committed a foul inside the box. Shortly after, the Argentine doubled the lead, converting a cross from Barella. Monaco’s situation worsened in the 12th minute when Mawissa was sent off for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity with a foul on Thuram. Inter completely dominated the match, and in the second half, Lautaro sealed his hat-trick in the 23rd minute, tapping in the rebound after Mkhitaryan’s shot was saved by the goalkeeper.
