Milan, Feb. 2 (LaPresse) – Torino Football Club is "pleased to announce that it has acquired Cesare Casadei from Chelsea Football Club on a permanent transfer. The midfielder has signed a contract until June 30, 2029."
Casadei was born in Ravenna on January 10, 2003, and developed through the youth academies of Cervia, Cesena, and Inter. In 2022, he moved to England, joining Chelsea, where he initially played for the Under-21 team.
In January 2023, he was loaned to Reading, making his Championship debut. In August 2023, he transferred to Leicester, where he stayed until January 2024, before being recalled by Chelsea.
On January 31, 2024, he made his Premier League debut against Liverpool. In the current season, he has also made his European debut, with five appearances in the Conference League.
In 2021, The Guardian included him in its annual 'Next Generation' list among the most promising players born in 2003. He has played for all of Italy's youth national teams, from the Under-16 to the Under-21, accumulating 12 caps and scoring 3 goals.
In 2023, he was a World Cup runner-up with Italy's Under-20 team, which lost in the final against Uruguay. However, in the tournament held in Argentina, he won the Golden Boot with seven goals in seven matches and was named Best Player of the Tournament.
