Skiing, World Championships: Federica Brignone wins gold medal in giant slalom

Milan, February 13 (LaPresse) – A spectacular Federica Brignone has won the gold medal in the giant slalom at the Alpine Ski World Championships in Saalbach. With an almost flawless second run, the Italian champion secured victory with a final time of 2:22.71, finishing a remarkable 0.90 seconds ahead of New Zealand’s Alice Robinson, who took silver.

The bronze medal went to American Paula Moltzan, who trailed by 2.62 seconds. This marks Brignone’s second medal at these World Championships, following her silver in the Super-G. Meanwhile, fellow Italians Sofia Goggia and Marta Bassino did not finish the first run.
