Milan, 16 Feb. (LaPresse) – Bundesliga club St. Pauli is considering whether to continue playing its traditional stadium anthem following recent accusations of the lyricist's links to the Nazis. The lyrics of the song, 'Das Herz von St. Pauli' ('the Heart of St. Pauli'), were written by Josef Ollig, whose hitherto unknown wartime activities were documented in a podcast by the St. Pauli Museum. St. Pauli then chose not to play the song before their Bundesliga match against Freiburg on Saturday, a decision that caused divisions among fans. The club said it will conduct further research into the song before making a final decision whether to resume playing it or not.
