Madrid (Spain), Feb. 20 (LaPresse) – The Central Criminal Court of the Audiencia Nacional has sentenced former Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales to pay a fine of 20 euros a day for 18 months (equal to about 10,800 euros) for the crime of sexual assault for kissing Spanish national team player Jennifer Hermoso at the medal ceremony of the Women's World Cup in August 2023 in Sydney, Australia. Rubiales was banned from approaching the player within a 200-metre radius and communicating with her for a year. In contrast, the former sports manager was acquitted of the coercion offence, according to a note from the National Court. The sentence can be appealed before the Criminal Chamber of the Audiencia Nacional.
