Madrid (Spain), 6 Mar. (LaPresse) – The Spanish National Court prosecutor's office has asked for a mistrial and a retrial of the trial against former Spanish Football Federation (Rfef) president Luis Rubiales, who was sentenced in first instance to a €10,800 fine for sexual assault for the non-consensual kiss given to player Jennifer Hermoso. Prosecutor Marta Durantez, the Iberian media reported, asked that both the trial and the sentence against Rubiales and the three other defendants be declared null and void on the grounds that the judge ‘was not impartial’, and asked for a retrial to include evidence that was ‘unduly denied’. Prosecutors had asked for Rubiales to be sentenced to two years and six months in prison, including one year for the crime of sexual assault and another year and a half for coercion.
