Turin, March 15 (LaPresse) – Italy’s Six Nations campaign ends with a hard-fought defeat. The Azzurri lost 22-17 at the Olimpico against Ireland on the final day after a very balanced match, marking Italy’s best performance in the tournament. The hosts went ahead at the 12th minute with a try by Ioane, followed by a conversion from Allan, then Keenan responded with a try for Ireland, converted by Crowley. Before halftime, Sheehan scored another try to give the visitors a 10-12 lead. In the second half, Italy played with one less player after Vintcent’s red card at the 12th minute, which was followed by another try from Sheehan. Italy responded bravely, scoring a try with Varney (converted by Allan), playing on equal terms until the end. Quesada's team, also affected by several injuries in the first half, loses but earns a defensive bonus point and moves to 5 points in the standings, 2 points ahead of Wales, who now must beat England to avoid finishing last. Ireland moves to 19 points, taking the lead 3 points ahead of France, who will play their final match against Scotland.
