Tennis: Indian Wells, Errani-Vavassori crowned mixed doubles champions

Turin, March 15 (LaPresse) – Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori, reigning mixed doubles champions at the US Open, have also won the 2025 edition of the invitational tournament in this specialty at Indian Wells. In the final, they defeated American Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Croatian Mate Pavić in a hard-fought match, winning 6-7(3) 6-3 10-8 after coming back from 4-7 down in the match tie-break. On their way to the title, the Italian duo eliminated Marcelo Arévalo and Timea Babos in the quarterfinals with a score of 6-3 6-7(2) 10-7. Then, in the semifinals, they defeated home favorite Desirae Krawczyk and Britain's Neal Skupski, two-time Wimbledon champions, 7-6(3) 6-3. At the end of the two-day tournament, which featured 12 pairs, Errani and Vavassori took home a $100,000 prize.
