Costa Navarino (Greece), March 17 (LaPresse/AP) – "The ball is in the Russian Olympic Committee’s court. On a working level, contacts have always been maintained." These were the words of IOC President Thomas Bach ahead of the IOC Session in Costa Navarino, where a new president of the International Olympic Committee will be elected on Thursday. He was speaking about the possible reintegration of the Russian committee, which was banned nearly 18 months ago due to the war in Ukraine. "They must follow the rules," Bach continued. "Everyone who follows the Olympic Charter rules is welcome; those who do not, are not." Some Russian and Belarusian athletes competed in the Paris 2024 Olympics as neutral athletes.
