Milan, March 18 (LaPresse) – Thomas Ceccon is on fire in Australia. The Italian Olympic champion in the 100m backstroke at Paris has impressed at the National Prep Meet 2025 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, where he has been training since this winter to find new motivation and training methods.

Ceccon delivered a stunning performance in the 100m freestyle, stopping the clock at 48.17 seconds—the fastest time in the world this season and the seventh-fastest of his career. The Olympic champion opened with a 23.06 split for the first 50 meters and closed with 25.11 on the way back, reaching the wall with more than half a second of advantage over 19-year-old Flynn Southam.

The 24-year-old from Veneto also competed the day before in his main event, the 100m backstroke, easily winning with a time of 52.84—the second-fastest time in the world this season, behind only the 52.71 recorded by Britain's Oliver Morgan.
