Rome, March 23 (LaPresse) – Lara Gut-Behrami had a perfect day and, with an outstanding performance, won the Super-G in Sun Valley, the final stage of the World Cup, overtaking Federica Brignone in the Super-G standings. The Italian skier finished third on the American course, 1.33 seconds behind the Swiss champion. On home soil, veteran American skier Lindsey Vonn secured second place (+1.29). The 40-year-old, returning this year after retirement, was visibly emotional and could not hold back tears at the finish line. She had not been on the podium for 2,565 days. Gut-Behrami needed to recover five points in the standings, and her victory secured her third career Super-G crystal globe. Marta Bassino finished fourth in Sun Valley, Laura Pirovano tenth, Elena Curtoni and Roberta Melesi placed 13th and 14th, while Sofia Goggia finished 19th.
