Milan, 30 Mar. (LaPresse) – Pecco Bagnaia is there. The two-time World Champion with Ducati has won the Grand Prix of the Americas, valid for the MotoGp World Championship, thanks to a sensational crash by his teammate Marc Marquez. The Spaniard was in the lead and dominating the race, when on the ninth lap he crashed on a kerb on a bend, ending up in the gravel and breaking his bike. He tried to restart, but after a few laps he was forced to retire. Bagnaia took advantage of this and overtook the other Marquez, Alex, who finished second with the Ducati of Team Gresini. Third place on the podium for an excellent Fabio Di Giannantonio, ahead of his team mate Franco Morbidelli of Team VR46. Marquez senior saw another fantastic weekend come to an end just as it was starting to get interesting: he had taken pole position and was dominating the sprint and long race, just as he had done in the two previous Grand Prixs in Thailand and Argentina. However, the Spaniard remains firmly in the lead of the World Championship. Today's race on the Austin circuit saw the start delayed by a tenth of a minute due to the weather conditions that forced the riders to change bikes and tyres just before the start. Several riders had intended to use wet tyres but a few moments before the start they returned to the pit lane to take the bike with dry tyres. There were many crashes due to the damp asphalt, including those of the promising Spaniard Fermin Aldeguer on the Team Gresini Ducati and the Frenchman Johan Zarco on the LCR Honda.
