Rome, 31 Mar. (LaPresse) – Jannik Sinner today begins his 44th week at the top of the ATP ranking. He has already begun to overtake Guga Kuerten, who spent 43 weeks at the top of the ranking during his career. But this week's cover star has to be Jakub Mensik, the only teenager in the Top 30, and the first Under 20 to beat two Top 5s in the same hard court tournament since Michael Chang at the 1991 Grand Slam Cup. The Czech won his first ATP title in Miami, beating his idol Novak Djokovic in the final. The second Czech in the tournament's roll of honour after Ivan Lendl (1986, 1989), he gained 30 positions and climbed to number 24. Also of note is the exit from the Top 10 of Daniil Medvedev, defeated in his Miami debut by the Spaniard Jaume Munar. The Muscovite, who has spent a total of 273 weeks in the world's top 10, last found himself outside the Top 10 over two years ago, in February 2023.
