Rome, 31 March (LaPresse) – “If I'm here and I'm a tennis player, it's thanks to you. I grew up watching you on television and to find myself now able to beat you is something incredible”. Jakub Mensik can't help but smile as he says these words to Novak Djokovic, the great loser of the Miami final. The Serb was looking for the 100th title of his career, the Czech has won the first of the series. And, at 19, he is now the youngest player in the ATP top 30. ‘I want to thank my team for everything they do for me every day, to help me become a better player. I'm sure this will be the first of many’, said Mensik, who triumphed at the Miami Masters 1000, beating the former world number one in the final with a double 7-6.
