Milan, 3 Apr. (LaPresse) – Champions League winners Real Madrid topped the list of prize money winners last season, receiving almost 139 million euros. UEFA announced this on Thursday in the financial report published during its annual meeting held in the Serbian capital Belgrade. Madrid's money came from a total competition prize fund of over 2 billion euros, which increased by 25% this season in the new and expanded format with more teams and more matches. Paris Saint-Germain, despite being eliminated in the semi-finals, is second in the revenue rankings with 122.4 million. This includes 34 million euros from TV money with the French rights deal shared with Lens as the only other French team in the group stage. Borussia Dortmund, the defeated finalists, overtook Bayern Munich, with both receiving more than 120 million euros. The money from the German broadcasts was divided among four teams. In the Europa League second division, defeated finalist Bayer Leverkusen received the highest payment, 41.2 million euros. The title winner Atalanta received almost 34 million euros.
