Rome, April 11 (LaPresse) – "Jannik is very beloved, and therefore he is defended in every aspect, regardless, and I find that to be right. But I believe that his case has been treated differently from 99% of cases. Not everyone knows how it works for an athlete subject to surprise doping tests and competing year-round. This needs to be explained to clarify the Sinner case," said Federica Pellegrini in an interview with Repubblica. "As for objective responsibility with respect to the team," Pellegrini explained, "it must be said that it’s not like if my physiotherapist drinks a beer and hits someone, it’s my fault, but it becomes my responsibility if the physio uses a cream on me and then I test positive. This applies to everyone, it's not the Sinner case that’s unusual." And so, asked the former swimming champion, "Why should the Sinner case be different? That’s my question. And it was different: the solution came only after the WADA appeals. I'm not saying there should have been a suspension. But in fact, it was treated as a case different from 99% of other athletes who have faced and paid for negligence due to doping."
