Milan, April 26 (LaPresse) – Lorenzo Sonego’s run at the Mutua Madrid Open, the Masters 1000 clay-court tournament underway at the Caja Mágica, ended in the second round.
The Italian, ranked No. 43 in the ATP rankings, was beaten in straight sets by the strong Australian Alex De Minaur, world No. 7, with a score of 6-2, 6-3 in 1 hour and 15 minutes.
In the third round, De Minaur will face Canada's Denis Shapovalov, who defeated Japan’s Kei Nishikori — the 2014 Madrid finalist — 6-1, 6-4.
