Milan, 26 April (LaPresse) – A good start for Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini in the doubles draw at the Mutua Madrid Open, a WTA 1000 tournament with a prize pool of €7,854,000 being played on clay at the Caja Magica in Madrid, Spain (combined with an ATP Masters 1000 event). The Italian pair, seeded second, defeated Taiwan's Chan Hao-Ching and Mexico's Giuliana Olmos 6-4, 6-7(3), 10-6 in an hour and 49 minutes. Erani and Paolini will face the Russian-Belgian pairing of Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens in the second round.
