Turin, May 4 (LaPresse) – Bayern Munich are German champions for the 34th time in their history. The Bavarians clinched the title with two games to spare thanks to Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw away at Freiburg. The 'Aspirins', second in the Bundesliga, now sit eight points behind the leaders and can no longer catch Vincent Kompany’s side. Eggestein opened the scoring in the 44th minute of the first half, followed by an own goal by Hincapie at the 49th to make it 2-0. Xabi Alonso’s team didn’t give up and managed to avoid defeat with goals from Wirtz in the 82nd minute and Tah in the 93rd. Freiburg climbs to 52 points, taking fourth place and a Champions League spot, now one point ahead of fifth-placed Borussia Dortmund.
