Milano, May 5 (LaPresse) – Italy arrives at the Foro Italico, the site of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome, as the only country with two Top 10 players in the ATP ranking. As of today, May 5, 2025, Lorenzo Musetti officially becomes the 185th Top 10 player since the introduction of the computerized ATP rankings in 1973. Musetti, now ranked 9th in the world, is the sixth Italian to join this elite group, following Adriano Panatta, Corrado Barazzutti, Fabio Fognini, Matteo Berrettini, and Jannik Sinner. But it’s not just Sinner and Musetti. Italy boasts seven Top 50 players (only the USA, with eight, has more this week), and nine Top 100 players in the ATP rankings. Among the first 20 Italians, Andrea Pellegrino stands out with a big leap forward (167th, +70), and Federico Cinà also gains over 50 spots (323rd, +50), becoming the new 20th-ranked Italian. Cinà will be at the Foro Italico thanks to a wild card. Beyond Italy, Jack Draper enters the Top 5 of the PIF ATP Rankings for the first time in his career after reaching the final at the Mutua Madrid Open, while winner Casper Ruud gains eight spots and also enters the Top 10, ranking 7th.
