Milan, 11 May (LaPresse) – Verona and Lecce drew 1-1 on the 36th day of Serie A. The result is particularly useful for Hellas, which interrupted a streak of three consecutive defeats and, with today's draw, now has 33 points, five above the relegation zone with two games to go. The point is of little use to Lecce, however, who move up to 28 points but are caught by Empoli in fourth-last place and now risk being overtaken by Venezia, who face Fiorentina tomorrow. For Giampaolo's Salento side, survival is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve. It all happened in the first half: Lecce broke the deadlock midway through the first half with Krstovic, well served by Tete Morente. It was the Salento striker's eleventh goal of the season, making him one of the possible transfer targets this summer. Zanetti's team took too soft an approach, but still managed to equalise before half-time thanks to a winning header from Coppola following a free kick taken by Suslov. The second half was a heated affair, with Verona looking dangerous through Serdar and Coppola again. Lecce responded with Banda, who literally missed an open goal after an assist from Pierotti. There was also a very hard collision between Mosquera and Gaspar, with the Lecce defender remaining on the ground for a long time but getting up after a few moments of concern.
