Chicago (USA), May 13 (LaPresse/AP) – Cooper Flagg will be able to start his NBA career in Dallas, and fans who lost Luka Doncic this season may now have a new star to cheer for. The Mavericks have won the NBA draft lottery, securing the first overall pick and the opportunity to draft Flagg, the freshman who led Duke to the Final Four in his only college season and was unanimously named Player of the Year. Dallas had only a 1.8% chance of landing the top pick. San Antonio, with back-to-back Rookies of the Year in Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle, will select second, Philadelphia third, and Charlotte fourth. Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. He shot 48% from the field, 39% from three-point range, and 84% from the free-throw line.
