Rome, May 15 (LaPresse) – “We can announce the launch of the redevelopment and roofing project for the Central Court” at the Foro Italico. This was revealed by Marco Mezzaroma, president of Sport e Salute, during the "Punti di Vista" event promoted by FITP and Sport e Salute as part of the Internazionali d’Italia tennis tournament.
The aim is to begin construction in 2026 and complete it within a year. Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti explained that the project “is the result of resolving some legal issues that were creating roadblocks. There was a 30-year usufruct agreement with Sport e Salute, but with the help of the State Attorney's Office, we managed to extend it to 2100. It was a significant legal obstacle that has now been overcome.”
The new roof will allow the venue to be used not only for tennis but also for other sports, and will increase its current seating capacity by 2,000.
