Milan, May 18 (LaPresse) – Following an investigation by the Federal Prosecutor that could impact the Serie B standings, the playout matches between Salernitana and Frosinone have been postponed.
The Serie B League announced in a statement that “in light of today’s receipt of a communication from the Federal Prosecutor regarding the conclusion of investigations into an associated club—based on findings and preliminary activities carried out following a report by Covisoc—it has issued and published Official Communication No. 211 dated May 18, 2025, which orders the postponement of the 2024/2025 Serie BKT Championship Play-Out matches, originally scheduled for May 19 and 26, 2025 (as per Communications Nos. 202 of May 10 and 209 of May 14, 2025), to a date to be determined.”
The statement further explains: “Given the Prosecutor’s current intention to proceed with disciplinary charges concerning possible rule violations that could affect the final standings—and therefore the scheduling of playout matches—this decision is motivated by the need to ensure fair competition and the regularity of the Championship, as well as to protect the organizational and scheduling needs of the clubs involved.”
New dates for the playout matches will be scheduled based on the developments in the case.
